If you have ever thought of volunteering but just never got around to it, why not give it a go this June by participating in our ‘volunteering taster’ event in celebration of Volunteers’ Week 2007.

Why not try a bite size?

Bite size volunteering is perfect if you want to volunteer but aren't sure you can commit a lot of time.

We've come up with some opportunities which will give you a bite size taste of volunteering activity.

Plus, you'll be meeting new people of all ages from all walks of life, trying something different as well as doing your bit for the environment.

Tuesday, 05 June - Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland

10.30am to 4.00pm - Drop in for an hour or two or stay all day

Venue: Belfast City Council's Portacabin, Glen Road, West Belfast

Help the local community clear and landscape a derelict site by removing litter and overgrown vegetation and planting native shrubs and flowers.

This event is suitable for all age groups but children must be accompanied by an adult. If youa re planning on taking part please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.

Wednesday, 06 June - Downpatrick & County Down Railway Society and Down District Volunteer Centre

10.00am - 12.00noon

Your opportunity to try out all the volunteering opportunities at the railway including driving the train ,guard duties, changing the points and more.

Throughout June - Royal Society for the Protection of Birds

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds have developed a number of activities that volunteers can carry out throughout June either from home or at work.

Activity 1: Tell the new Northern Ireland Assembly that Conservation Matters

Fill in and send RSPBs post cards to different political parties and ask your friends and family to do the same in order to keep environmental issues on their agenda.

Activity 2: Recycle for RSPB - Recycle printer cartridges

Pack up your office or home printer cartridge in RSPB's FREEPOST envelopes so they can be recycled instead of going to land fill sites as well as helping RSPB raise vital funds for their work.
