Mike Corboy meets children at Speedwell TrustThere was a special day at Speedwell Trust recently when they welcomed Mr Mike Corboy of Dallas, Texas. A firm friend and supporter of Speedwell Trust’s work in bringing children together Mr Corboy personally donated a generous cheque to assist the Trust with their valuable community relations initiative with 3 - 11 year olds. Mr Corboy is a member of The American Ireland Fund Board of Directors, and was accompanied by Mr Kingsley Aikins, president and chief executive officer of The Ireland Funds, and Mrs Caitriona Fottrell, director Ireland.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Speedwell Trust, its director Mrs Jean Kelly, commented, “Mike has not only given Speedwell financial involved in promoting the work of the Trust in the US and further afield. He is an exceptional man who makes time in a very busy life to think and act in the interests of others.

"He and his wife, Lou Ann, who has visited Speedwell with him on past occasions, both have a genuine interest in children and making this world a better place for them. I was delighted to hear that recently in Dallas the Catholic Foundation honoured Mike as 'Man of the Year'. In my opinion no one deserved it more."

Visiting children from Orritor, St Joseph’s, Stewartstown and Ballylifford primary schools were delighted to show Mr Corboy how much fun it was spending time together at Speedwell.
