Short film being made about The Speedwell Trust in Parkanaur.

The Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission (NIFTC) and UTV have commissioned Tyrone Times reporter Eleanor McGillie to make a short film about The Speedwell Trust in Parkanaur.

Eleanor, who has worked as a reporter at the Tyrone Times for the past four years, sent in a proposal for the film and was selected.

UTV will supply a film crew for two days during June to shoot the film.

Eleanor explains why she wanted to make the film,

"The Speedwell Trust plays a vital role in educating children right across Northern Ireland. Last year it attracted 20,000 school children aged between three and 11 years old from Protestant and Catholic backgrounds.

It is vital for children to learn from an early age that sectarianism and bigotry has no place in society in Northern Ireland.

The Trust needs £300,000 annually to keep its doors open to children from across Northern Ireland.

Eleanor continued, "Sound financial support is needed for the group so it can continue to carry out the valuable work it has been doing since 1991".

Eleanor's film will be broadcast in autumn.
