Are you currently working with older people or involved with recruiting volunteers? You may be interested in applying for funding to pilot a volunteer buddying scheme with the aim of raising the confidence of older people to make better use of public transport and support independent travel.
A transport forum has been set up as part of the healthy ageing work carried out by Belfast Health Cities under the umbrella of Investing for Health. As a member of this forum, the Department for Regional Development is willing to fund the piloting of a volunteer buddying scheme in both a rural and urban area within the Eastern Health and Social Services Board area to establish the scope and success of such a project.
