Did you know that 21 September each year marks the International Day of Peace? Springboard Opportunities has launched its local campaign to raise awareness and increase civic observance of Peace Day each year, and invites you to come on board.

Did you know...?

In 2001 a resolution was unanimously adopted by all 191 of the Member countries of the United Nations establishing a fixed annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence…

Peace Day

Springboard Peace Day Campaign 21 September

This amazing International Day of Peace agreed by each Member country as a unique opportunity for the laying down of arms and progress towards peace falls on 21 September each year. Peace Day is currently observed across the world as a unique opportunity to celebrate peacebuilding and encourage people in conflict to cease hostilities for 24 hours.

On a local level, as we move away from decades of violence towards building the institutions and opportunities for sustainable peace, our experience and understanding of peacebuilding has never been more significant…yet very few of us have ever heard about the International Day of Peace.

Springboard is campaigning to raise awareness and increase public and civic observance of this international day of ceasefire and non-violence. We want local peacebuilders and local people alike to celebrate the International Day of Peace and send a message worldwide of the journey we are making on a local level towards peace. We are also campaigning for official observance of the International Day of Peace on 21 September at the NI Assembly each year.

How you can get involved...

We invite you to sign your name to the campaign and show your support for official observance of the International Day of Peace at the NI Assembly. We also invite you to think about doing something special to mark the Day on 21 September this year.
