Castlederg Story Finders group had a great response to the Spamount Mill Nostalgia event they held on 22nd January, in the Derg Valley Healthy Living Centre. Where over 50 former employees arrived
Castlederg Story Finders group had a great response to the Spamount Mill Nostalgia event they held on 22nd January, in the Derg Valley Healthy Living Centre. Over fifty former employees, family and friends thoroughly enjoyed an evening’s entertainment, which included a talk from the last manager of the mill James Crockett.
M.C. for the event was Tommy Maguire, MBE, himself a former employee with Spamount Mill. Everyone was treated to a short film which he produced just before the company closed in 1980. It was a very enjoyable evening, offering people the opportunity to meet up and share their mill memories, so they can be shared by everyone in the community.
Moreover, it is hoped that material collected on the night can be published on the Story Finders website where it will be preserved for future generations.
