DHSSPS engaging with stakeholders

Department of Health Social Services & Public Safety Small Logo

Engagement with stakeholders is viewed by the DHSSPSNI as a key aspect of the reform programme. The Health & Social Care (HSCA) is developing a major programme of stakeholder engagement.

A key aspect of the programme is the establishment of a HSC stakeholder engagement network which will determine a plan of engagement to influence the future strategic direction, including the Priorities for Actions (PFA) process.

It is not the intention to duplicate existing good practice but rather to develop a high level forum which will act as a sounding board to supplement and support local user engagement for health and wellbeing. We acknowledge and appreciate the excellent partnership work at all levels that is presently taking place across the province and anticipate that the establishment of this forum will provide a regional focus for the work.

To begin this process of developing an approach for stakeholder engagement and empowerment the Department is holding a half day workshop on 29 June 2007 at the Island Civic Centre, Lisburn.

The aim of the workshop is to:-

  • look at existing PFA procedure and explore how key stakeholders can best connect with the process to influence policy
  • develop criteria for membership of the core network
  • agree terms of reference for the HSC network
  • identify other desired features of a first year work programme

This workshop is the beginning of a process of engagement where stakeholders will actively influence decision making at all levels and your participation is important to us.
