Members of the website team travelled to the Antrim town to explain the concept to members of the voluntary and community sector, and to encourage organisations in the North Antrim area to make use of the site.
“Organisations may use Community NI to post information about jobs, events and news stories in their area or sector,” explained Brendan Kane, the Community NI Outreach Officer, and continued; “and best of all, it’s completely free to use”.
Guest speakers at the event were Eileen Chan-Hu of the Ethnic Minorities Project, and Paula Gilmurray of the BBC’s Big Yellow Bus initiative, both anxious to promote their own initiatives and the success of the now pivotal Community NI site.
A short presentation by Brendan Kane explained the key functions and potential of Community NI to an appreciative audience in Ballymena’s excellent new Ballymena North project complex.
Also present at the event was Úna McKernan of NICVA, and Neil Irwin, also of NICVA, responsible for the popular Grant Tracker website, which provides information on funding and grants available in the sector. Úna explained NICVA’s input into Community NI, while Neil outlined the key functions of Grant Tracker.
Concluding the event, Community NI’s Brendan Kane exhorted those present to make use of the site, saying; “This resource was designed for you to use. Do make the most of it”.
