New councils - will they fit with us?

Will the new councils fit with voluntary and community groups?

Reflection of City Hall, BelfastThe current Review of the Public Administration has proposed fewer, larger local councils with more powers. Policy responsibilities and programmes essential to the future of many groups and projects will transfer to the new councils which will also have the power to prepare Community Plans for their areas.

Community Plans will coordinate service provision by all public agencies and set priorities for funding. The implications for the sustainability of voluntary and community groups and for service provision by the sector are therefore huge.

How will voluntary and community groups fit in and how can we influence these proposals?
