The current Review of the Public Administration has proposed fewer, larger local councils with more powers. Policy responsibilities and programmes essential to the future of many groups and projects will transfer to the new councils which will also have the power to prepare Community Plans for their areas.
Community Plans will coordinate service provision by all public agencies and set priorities for funding. The implications for the sustainability of voluntary and community groups and for service provision by the sector are therefore huge.
How will voluntary and community groups fit in and how can we influence these proposals?

Community Technical Aid is facilitating debate by organising four community consultation workshops in Belfast, Coleraine, Dungannon and Derry / Londonderry during May.
The workshops will include input from the Review team and from voluntary and community sector representatives in Scotland where a similar power of Community Planning was introduced in 2003.
