Community Services Manager, Janet Sewell "We are absolutely delighted to receive this award which recognises the ongoing commitment and dedication of our volunteers."

In 2004, BCM volunteers, who come from all parts of the community, worked in excess of 10,000 volunteer hours providing a broad range of services for children, adolescents and older people.

These included cross-community holidays, a weekly lunch club, fundraising activities, befriending, mentoring, minibus driving and ongoing support for a range of projects. The most recent innovation has been the hosting of very successful Tea Dances at Grosvenor Hall, which is becoming apopular social date.

BCM is a charitable organisation, founded in 1889, which aims to help people in need in the local community irrespective of creed. The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service celebrates the excellence of this work and grants the volunteers the deserved title of 'Unsung Heroes'
