The Belfast Metropolitan College in Partnership with the Department for Employment and Learning have developed a programme to help those who are economically inactive to achieve their employment or self-employment ambitions.
The programme aims to provide participants with pre-employment, enterprise and entrepreneurship skills to enable them to compete for jobs or develop business ideas and work for themselves. The programme will explore options within self-employment, provide employability skills, introduce you to potential employers and to a range of self-employed individuals who will ‘tell it like it is’. Participants will be supported throughout by one-to-one mentoring.
The programme is funded by the Department for employment and Learning and the European Social Fund.
Why should I apply?
Progress will help increase your job prospects, kick-start your career and widen your options. It will also help you to appreciate the possibilities of becoming self-employed. You will be working towards a Level 2 qualification in Exploring Enterprise.
How long will it take?
The programme is part-time, taking place on a Tuesday night from 5pm – 8pm and will run from October – May, however some participants may achieve their goals more quickly. Completion will depend on individual ability and requirements.
What is involved?

Visits will be made to relevant business, enterprise or recruitment events. The programme will work closely with employers to arrange placements where appropriate as part of the training and experience provided by the course.
