The Cedar Foundation chose 'A Life Less Ordinary - train for life after brain injury' as the theme for Brain Injury Awareness Week
A Life Less Ordinary – Train for Life after Brain Injury was the theme of Brain Injury Awareness Week, 31 March - 4 April 2008.
The Cedar Foundation chose the theme to make people aware of how much brain injury changes the life of those injured and their family and friends.
“Life can be busy and stressful in ‘ordinary’ lives, but there are so many more challenges to face after brain injury. During the national week-long event to raise awareness of brain injury, The Cedar Foundation teamed up with Health Matters to run training days across Northern Ireland,” said Elaine Armstrong, head of brain injury services at Cedar.
"The training targeted ordinary skills that are all the more important for those who have survived a brain injury and are re-training for work, life and living. This included accredited training in stress awareness, first aid and health and safety”.
Cedar provides support throughout Northern Ireland with housing management in people’s own homes and vocational rehabilitation for those who want to move towards employment”.
