Children’s charity the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) is hoping for box-office success at their annual fundraising event this Wednesday evening at the Sheridan IMAX movie theatre.

Big-hearted film fans will be coming together to raise money for the mentoring service, which helps children aged 11-14 years old.

Featuring live jazz as well as cinema the special fundraising event - billed as ‘A Night at the Movies’ – will be a great night out, according to organiser Niall Hughes of the YES.

"A Night at the Movies will give people an opportunity to learn about the work of YES. The 3D films we will be showing such as Into the Deep are particularly appropriate profiles in human endeavour and challenge. They also serve to highlight the diverse world in which we live and the need for everyone to take seriously the responsibility we have as mature and responsible citizens."

"The cash raised will be used to help us continue weekly mentoring and workshop service to children from diverse ethnic, religious, educational and socio-economic backgrounds all over Belfast."

A political broadcast developed by YES participants will also be screened during the event. The broadcast, which is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, will provide an important message about issues faced by young people such as smoking, racism and bullying.

Tickets for the event cost £10 per person and £25 per family. This includes a drinks reception and finger buffet, popcorn, live jazz and two 3D movies (Into the Deep and T-Rex). The event takes place at the IMAX Theatre at the Odyssey on Wednesday 19th April and starts at 7:15pm. Tickets can be purchased on arrival at the IMAX.
