This consultation exercise will run until 30 September 2007.
The Equality Commission is pleased to announce the launch of a public consultation exercise in respect of a new publication entitled 'A Unified Guide to Promoting Equal Opportunities in Employment'.
One of the Commission’s functions is to provide advice to employers on how to promote equality of opportunity in employment across all of the nine statutory equality grounds.
This advice is currently based on guidance contained in six separate equality codes of practice and several other publications.
The Commission recognises that it may not be easy or convenient for employers to consult these multiple sources of guidance and information and realise that employers would benefit from an opportunity to consult a single publication that provides guidance on employment-related topics across all of the statutory equality grounds. The Unified Guide aims to address this issue.
The contents of the Unified Guide substantially derive from the provisions of the existing statutory codes of practice and represent the Commission’s current recommendations on best practice.
We are eager to engage and consult with interested parties and invite you to download a copy from the Commission’s website. Alternatively, if you are unable to download a copy or if you would prefer to have copies in alternative formats then please do not hesitate to contact:
