1. NICVA Link Awards – what’s in them for you?

The Link Awards are NICVA’s annual celebration of partnerships between business and the voluntary and community sector.

WHY ENTER THE LINK AWARDS?

By entering the NICVA Link Awards you can:

  • gain wider recognition for the work of your organisation
  • develop relationships with existing commercial partners
  • create potential for further involvement or new initiatives
  • enhance the profile of your organisation
  • create significant PR opportunities

The six nomination categories are:

Small Charity Nomination
Medium Charity Nomination
Large Charity Nomination
Award for Innovation
Award for Challenge
Clubs/Societies/Schools Award

The overall winner can come from any of these categories, so an organisation with limited resources has as good a chance of winning as a bigger one.

As the closing date for nominations is 28 July 2004, it’s not too late to nominate (but only just!)

Download the guidelines and nomination form from NICVA’s website or contact Creative Events, 1 Dublin Road, Belfast BT2 7HB, tel: 028 9023 5001.

2. Be first to get a Masters in Voluntary Sector Management!

Don’t miss the opportunity to get a place on the MSc Voluntary Sector Management. The MSc is designed for NICVA by the Cass Business School of City University, London. It is aimed at senior managers who want to gain a sound understanding of the management of people and finances in a needs-led framework. The course covers the theory and practice of subjects such as Strategy, Marketing, Fundraising, Diversity, Finance and Leadership.

The course starts on 24 September 2004, is part-time and takes two years to complete. The learning is achieved through lectures, residentials, group work, shadowing, and a management project.

NICVA will fund 75% of the programme costs for successful applicants.

Download an application form and details from the website www.nicva.org or contact Sandra Bailie by email: sandra.bailie@nicva.org or tel: 028 9087 7777.

Applications should be returned by 23 July 2004 and interviews will be held week beginning 2 August 2004.

3. Unhappy with the New TSN – a way forward consultation document? Join NICVA’s call to action.

Over 4,000 voluntary and community groups have received our proposal document which asks the sector to form a strong and united front in opposing the recommendations in the consultation document from OFMDFM.

If you agree with NICVA, that the consultation document does not offer a strategy with any real impact on poverty and social exclusion, and if you agree with the alternative framework principles for a robust anti-poverty strategy suggested by NICVA, we ask you to sign and return the proposal document to us as soon as possible.

Both the consultation document and NICVA’s proposal document are available from the website www.nicva.org or telephone Lisa McElherron on 028 9087 7777, email: lisa.mcelherron@nicva.org .
