The photographic exhibition and accompanying publication refocuses attention from the visible outcomes of conflict towards the underlying structures and patterns of thought by which conflict is both determined and contained in the city’s formal and informal archives. Telephone Number 028 9023 0965 Email Address info@belfastexposed.org , website: www.belfastexposed.org

Gallery Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 1:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Exhibition from 1 May to 4 June 2004. Venue: Belfast Exposed Gallery, The Exchange Place, 23 Donegall Street, Belfast BT1 2FF. Admission is free.

Laurence Clark takes an irreverent look at the multi-million pound disability charity industry. In recent years charities have changed their focus to equality and rights, however, they still shake tins and use images designed to inspire pity from the general public.By the end of the show, the audience is left pondering whether equality can ever be achieved through charity. You might never put coins into rattling tins again! Laurence, asa disabled comedian, has manyperformances under his belt, more recentlyat the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.Stand up routines around the somewhat 'taboo subject of disability charities are interspersed with video footage and appeals on behalf of various celebrities. It will be narrated by Mat Fraser, who performed 'Sealboy: Freak' at the festival three years ago. Laurence will also perform extracts from his new show 'The Jim Davidson Guide to Equality' which was inspired by the incident last October when Jim Davison cancelled a show in Plymouth because there were people who use wheelchairs in the front row.

9. Europe Counts

Thursday 27 May 2004 at 10.00am in NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast.

On Thursday 10 June 2004 people across Europe will go to the poles to elect Members of the European Parliament. Here in Northern Ireland around 70% of our legislation comes from the EU. The legislation and policies debated and decided at EU level such as employment rights, consumer affairs, equality, human rights and environmental issues, impact on all of us and the groups we represent. In short Europe counts and so do the people we choose to represent us there. With the recent resignation of Northern Irelands two veteran MEPs John Hume and Ian Paisley, June’s election opens up a new and interesting dynamic.

With this in mind NICVA has organised a question and answer session with all the candidates running in the election which will be held on Thursday 27 May 2004 at 10.00am in NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast.
