Invitation to Awards Ceremony, Photocall and Interviews

Actress and television presenter Julie Peasgood, winner of the Royal Television Society’s Television Personality of the Year award in 2002, will present the Charity Oscars at a gala event in Belfast on Thursday night (23 September 2004).

More than 100 nominations were received for the awards, which will be presented at a ceremony in the Ramada Hotel, Shaw’s Bridge at 10.00pm, hosted by UTV’s Paul Clark. The ceremony will follow a dinner at which a VIP will be the guest speaker.

Julie Peasgood currently hosts the gardening series Turf Wars for the BBC and has just finished her second series of Bootsale Challenge for ITV. She recently had a second successful series on ITV of Tall Tales and Antiques Sales. Her recognition as Television Personality of the Year followed two series of Great Little Breaks and a new series Party of your Life.

As an actress, she starred in the top soaps, suffering a horrible death as Barry Grant’s girlfriend Fran in Brookside, featuring as motor-biker Jo in Emmerdale and the outrageous Jacqui in Hollyoaks. She has also appeared in Taggart, The Bill, Spender and many other programmes.

This is the eighteenth year of Link, the longest running and most successful awards event in Northern Ireland, in association with BT Mobile and supported by the Belfast Telegraph.

We introduced new categories this year and I’m delighted that we have extended beyond businesses. Many schools, clubs and societies make a valuable and continuing contribution to charity and it is wonderful that we can now recognise their role,” said NICVA Chief Executive, Seamus McAleavey.

The names of the winners will be released later with an embargo until the awards ceremony begins at 10.00pm on Thursday.
