Benchmarking and profiling project by Telephone Helplines Association.

Helpline staff Telephone Helplines Association (THA) are asking for assistance with a research project about helplines in Northern Ireland from:

  1. Health related organisations who either have a helpline or take calls from the public. You should complete the benchmarking and profiling questionnaire at www.helplines.org.uk/NI_Research.htm .
  2. Users of helplines are asked to give their opinions on helplines in an online questionnaire at www.helplines.org.uk .
  3. A literature review is planned. If you have carried out or know of any relevant research, please contact Graeme Caul on Telephone Number 028 9035 7852.

The objective is to profile and benchmark helpline services in Northern Ireland over the next year.

THA hope to use the results to formulate recommendations and guidelines for commissioners of helplines, including the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, and funders of helpline services.

The participation of helplines will enable THA to measure the work being done by the helpline sector, to prove the value of this work, and to help develop services which callers want and can trust.

Already over 40 organisations have expressed an interest in being involved.
