Bringing learning to people

A new service to help adults in Northern Ireland find education and training courses that suit them is being launched in Antrim today.

Callnet is a partnership between NICVA (the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) and 14 voluntary and community organisations which provide learning opportunities. Springfarm Community House in Antrim is one of the local partners.

Callnet, funded by the New Opportunities Fund, is a portal website for anyone searching for learning opportunities. It provides information about, and electronic links to, organisations, courses, resources and events throughout Northern Ireland.

Callnet is an ideal place for providers to advertise their courses,” said NICVA’s Stephen Gray. “As a website, it can be accessed from anywhere in the world, but the partners stretch from Castlederg to Kilkeel, so searchers should find a suitable local provider for the course they wish to follow. The next phase of the project is to engage with more learning providers and help them to promote their organisation on the site.”

Media representatives are welcome to attend the launch at Springfarm Community House, 15-17 Argyll Street, Antrim, tel: 028 9446 2295 today at 11.00am.
