The website www.adviceguide.org.uk provides 24/7 advice to the public from Citizens Advice, the largest advice charity in Northern Ireland. The website is a joint development by CAB across the UK, and the site carries information relevant to the different jurisdictions in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.
Derek Alcorn, CAB’s Chief Executive in Northern Ireland, said, "We are delighted withthis new development which breaks down the barriers of office hours, putting practical and reliable information at the fingertips of the public ".
Citizens Advice Northern Ireland delivers advice to some 158, 000 people each year. Mr Alcorn continued, "Work is also proceeding on translating the website into a range of languages including Chinese, Bengali, Urdu, Gujatati and Punjabi ” enabling even more people to access advice.
Mr Alcorn said the website was an important component of CAB’s equality strategy in Northern Ireland, and an important new electronic interface between citizens and public services.
