Northern Ireland Census Access website
The Northern Ireland Census Access (NICA) website has been developed as central source for data from the 2001 Census. Data and maps can be downloaded from the site free of charge.
The site has been divided into sections to help users find the information they need with a minimum of effort.
Sections:
The information is held within seven categories, including Housing and Transport, Health and Care, Employment, Education, Economic Activity, Demography and Cultural information.
Equality Research and Information website
This is NISRA’s latest online resource and provides information on equality and Section 75. Data is brought together from a variety of sources in the form of tables, publications and research on nine categories, as defined by the Northern Ireland Act (1998).
Currently the website contains information that is already in the public domain, but there will be expansions over time to include information from public bodies and the voluntary and community sector.
The Northern Ireland Neighbourhood Information Service
The Northern Ireland Neighbourhood Information Service (NINIS) provides statistical information by location across Northern Ireland. The user can gather information by enumeration district, ward, District Council area, Assembly area or for all of Northern Ireland.
Themes include population, social and welfare, agriculture, education and crime. A search can also be done by postcode or by selecting an area from a map of Northern Ireland.
The site also holds data about the Northern Ireland Measures of Deprivation. The (Noble) measures can be searched by postcode and or map. A third section holding information on towns and villages will be available soon.
The Northern Ireland Household Panel Survey
The Northern Ireland Household Panel Survey (NIHPS) is an extension of the long-running British Household Panel Survey (BHPS). Wave 1 of the NIHPS took place in 2001, involving 2,000 households and 3,500 individuals in Northern Ireland. The survey corresponded with Wave 11 of the BHPS. Wave 2 of the NIHPS and Wave 13 of the BHPS have now been completed and will be available online within the next few weeks.
The NIHPS has a number of distinct advantages over other surveys carried out in Northern Ireland:
