Course Content
The course focuses on the aftermath of intrastate conflicts eg South Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and the Balkans, as well as in Northern Ireland. The course is interdisciplinary, drawing on aspects of social sciences, philosophy, religious studies and theology, and includes training in research methods.
A religious commitment is not required, and theology courses are optional, but consideration of the role of religions in post conflict societies, especially Christianity and Islam, is a particular feature.
The programme would be of interest to anyone working within the reconciliation or community relations field, and applications are invited for both the MPhil and PhD programmes, for entry in October 2005.
Study takes place at the Irish School of Ecumenics, Antrim Road, Belfast. The school is an academic institute within Trinity College, Dublin. The taught MPhil can be taken over one year full time, or two years part time.
