The event was requested by the Creating Change project members in follow up to a residential held in September.

WEA Development Officer Amanda Biega and WEA Director Stevie Johnston along with Paul Tracey of NLPNI and The Success Foundation were keen to explore how NLP can benefit community workers particularly as a motivational tool leading to focused and collective action.

Amanda explains,

"We felt that it was important to explore NLP as a different approach to community development."

About the session

Paul covered a number of areas with the group including:

  • What NLP is and its history
  • The uses of NLP
  • Overcoming habits
  • Dealing with anxieties, fears and phobias

He explained,

Using NLP a person can ‘model’ the more successful parts of their behaviour in order to reproduce them in areas where they are less successful."

Speaking at the event one participant commented,

"The session taught me to think differently and consider how this can impact on others. I’d like to explore NLP further and I’m planning to use it in my home and work life to create positive change."
