Lisburn’s rural community and voluntary groups turned out in force last week to celebrate the success of the TADA Rural Lisburn Outreach Project. The Project has provided direct support, advice, information and new opportunities for rural Community groups in the Lisburn rural areas.
Speaking at the celebration event, Jude Cumiskey, Project’s Development Officer highlighted the wide range of projects and activities the groups had participated in, from training sessions, to cross-border trips. She spoke about the issues facing rural communities in the Lisburn area, and highlighted especially now at a time when rural communities are changing dramatically the need for such support from an organisation like TADA Rural Network. The cross border project in particular has promoted the importance of building good community relations in the rural Lisburn areas. And has encouraged communities to engage in cultural awareness training and community dialogue that otherwise would not have taken place.
Jackie McQuillan from Halftown Resident’s Association was one of the participants in the project. Jackie thanked Jude on behalf of all the groups,
Libby Keys, Director of Rural Community Network spoke of the importance of community development and community relations in rural communities and congratulated everyone on a very successful project.
Jim Dickson, Chair of TADA thanked Jude and Amanda, Administration Officer with the Outreach Project, for their hard work in making the project such a success. He promised that TADA would continue to support Lisburn’s rural groups and encouraged groups to make contact.
