5, 4, 3, 2, 1....Countdown to State of the Sector begins

NICVA Small Logo

The countdown has started for State of the Sector V but before we embark on analysing the size and scope of the voluntary and community sector, we want your thoughts on this long standing publication. Perhaps more importantly we want know how we can ensure it reflects the changing environment within which the sector now operates.

Since 1996 the State of the Sector report has occupied a central role in articulating the size and scope of the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. Eleven years on State of the Sector has grown in ambition and importance and in many ways its development has mirrored that of the wider voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. However, we want to know is it important to you and if not what would make State of the Sector more relevant to your organisation?

The previous State of the Sector reports have developed the only comprehensive picture of the scale and scope of the economic activities of the Northern Ireland voluntary and community sector. The publication of each edition of the State of the Sector represents another step in the evolution of this type of statistical analysis and, as such, adds to broaden knowledge of the sector by examining many of the key issues currently affecting and shaping the sector.

So what is the next step in this evolution?

First, we want to hear your views of what is good and not so good about State of the Sector? Have you even heard of the report and if so has it proven to be useful to your organisation.

Second, we want to know what you think should be covered by State of the Sector V in terms of the big challenges you are facing.

Finally, we would really welcome any comments about how we produce and disseminate State of the Sector. T

he bottom line is we want it to be of as much value as possible to the voluntary and community sector and we can not do that without finding out what you think.

We would be very grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to complete this very short online survey.
