The Peace by Piece project (SEUPB Ref: 039860; CFNI Ref: 1004271), led by Training for Women Network Ltd (TWN) supported by Women into Politics, Northern Ireland Women’s European Platform, Footprints Women’s Centre, Women’s TEC, Intercomm and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, was intended to recruit 50 women from a variety of backgrounds in Northern Ireland and furnish them with the requisite skills and knowledge to form a understanding of conflict in the international and local contexts, with a view to disseminating that learning in their own communities.
The culmination of the project was to comprise an international conference to explore themes and issues associated with women and conflict. However, the aim of the project is to foster peace and reconciliation within and between communities in Northern Ireland and for the women to use the acquired skills and knowledge to further this aim beyond the life of the project.
