The Special EU Programmes Body has reminded potential applicants that the deadline for this year’s submissions is just over a week away on 5 September at 5.00pm.

Howard Keery marks the date on his calendar

Date for the diary: Howard Keery, from the Special EU Programmes Body reminds potential applicants that the deadline for this year's submissions for Peace lll and INTERREG lVA funding is 5 September.

The SEUPB’s Joint Technical Secretariat, which oversees the application process, has reported that over one hundred applications to both programmes have so far been received. Applicants are looking for a combined total of close to €700 million across the Peace lll and INTERREG lVA programmes. The total funds available for both programmes are almost €600 million over the next five years.

Applications are at various stages in the evaluation process and the first of the successful applicants is due to be announced in the next few weeks. Others will be announced in due course.

5 September however is not the last opportunity for applications to be considered for funding under the EU programmes as a second phase will reopen in 2009.

Commenting on this phase of the process, Howard Keery, Director of the Joint Technical Secretariat said:

Note

Calls for applications for the aspect of the Peace III Programme managed by the Border Action/CRC consortium will remain open on a rolling basis and will not close on 5 September. This consortium jointly manages the aspect of the Peace lll Programme related to acknowledging and dealing with the past. This theme is particularly relevant to victims and survivors groups.

“To date there has been a significant response to the new programmes; this means increased competition for funding and underlines the requirement for applications to be strategic in focus.

“With the economic progress in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland we were fortunate in securing continued EU support through Peace III funding. The funds available are less than the previous Peace programmes, placing increased emphasis on achieving maximum impact with the funds available.”
