A Lotto support for individual artists

The recent review of SIAP indicated that there was a perception that it is difficult for new and emerging artists to receive awards and that the same artists receive funds year on year.

In 2006/07 the Arts Council has decided to ringfence 20% of its awards to support emerging artists and/or first time applicants. The emphasis on track record has been removed and applications will be judged solely on the quality of works submitted.

Artists of all disciplines and in all types of working practice, who

• (a) have made a contribution to artistic activities in Northern Ireland for a minimum period of one year; and
• (b) are domiciled in Northern Ireland.

• Project assistance
• Travel grants
• Residencies

WHAT YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR

• Applications for prolonged study at centres of further education.
• Applications leading to professional qualifications.
• Applications relating to projects/commissions already in receipt of Arts Council of Northern Ireland National Lottery funds.
• Applications to fund or establish websites.

How to Apply

All schemes operate on a deadline basis except Travel Awards. Decisions are normally made within two months of the application deadline. The Arts Council will not fund any project which is due to start before it makes its decision.
