The purpose of the review is to examine the support for carers in an holistic way following on from the Review of the National Carers' Strategy.
Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie said:
I welcome the opportunity to participate in a review that recognises the tremendous personal commitment of people who are prepared to give their time so freely to their caring role."
Health Minister Michael McGimpsey said:
This has been an exercise in working together by Ministers of the Executive recognising the extent of care in the community and its value to our society."
The Executive had indicated unanimously last month it would not support a Private Member's Bill dealing with certain aspects of carers' allowance.
