Community Safety Small Grants (Belfast)

Belfast City Council (Development Department Community Services Section) Small Logo

Belfast City Council in partnership with the Belfast Community Safety Partnership has launched a small grants scheme to deal with antisocial behaviour.

Community safety is about working together to reduce crime, the fear of crime and antisocial behaviour. In 2004, Belfast City Council helped establish the Belfast Community Safety Partnership which brings together a range of organisations to tackle these issues.

Antisocial behaviour
One of the key problems identified in some areas of the city is antisocial behaviour. This includes:

  • vandalism and graffiti
  • groups or gangs gathering in neighbourhoods
  • noise
  • attacks on emergency services
  • community conflict.

Community safety small grant scheme
To help deal with these issues the Belfast Community Safety Partnership set up a small grant scheme to help prevent these problems occurring. The maximum grant is £1000.

We will help fund projects which:

  • reduce youth offending by tackling the root causes
  • engage local communities, young people and families to tackle youth offending
  • reduce the number, incidence and impact of anti-social behaviour, vandalism, graffiti, and noise.
