eaga Community Fund grants

eaga Community Fund has been created to support community projects that educate, raise awareness and demonstrate community involvement in addressing environmental issues at grassroots level.

  • Priority will be given to practical projects that have greatest environmental impact.
  • Projects must involve the active participation of local young people in both planning and delivering

Thematic areas

eaga Community Fund seeks to assist community based projects addressing environmental issues concerning the following themes:

  • Natural environment matters - urban or rural
  • Recycling
  • Conservation
  • Fuel poverty
  • Renewable energy
  • Responsible water use
  • Energy efficiency
  • Sustainable transport
  • Eco systems
  • Climate Change

eaga Community Fund will not fund:

  • Projects of individuals
  • Running costs of existing organisations
  • Proposals coming from statutory bodies or private sector companies – however, these could be involved in a community based partnership
  • Beautification competitions eg Villages in Bloom
  • Enhancement of habitat for sporting purposes
  • Conservation of well supported species or non-native species
  • School playgrounds or grounds improvements – unless there is clear wider community use and involvement
  • Zoos, captive breeding or animal rescues centre

General information

  • eaga Community Fund will normally make grant awards from £200 to £1,000.
  • Area of benefit – all of Northern Ireland – and preference will be given to projects in areas of greater need
  • Spend period: The date for completion of projects – 28th Aug 2008
  • eaga Community Fund will not prioritize large scale projects of which eaga funding is but a small part. However an element of funding from the community or other local sources would be welcomed.
  • Projects that will make an impact on the lives of people are more vulnerable will score higher

What will be funded?

eaga Community Fund will prioritize project costs and materials; community events; equipment; facilities hire; translation costs. A contribution in kind, for example volunteers’ time / the use of local premises, will be expected.

The fund will seek to attract different types of project and the Committee will seek to ensure a geographical spread of funded initiatives.

Additional support for projects

Where appropriate eaga Community Fund may be augmented with additional assistance in kind from companies associated with eaga. This in kind assistance from eaga companies will be discussed and agreed on an individual project basis by the Committee.

How to Apply

Application to the eaga Community Fund will be made via Application Form to be downloaded from CFNI website.

Grants will be paid as follows – Grants under £1,000 will be paid 100% up front. Grants of £1,000 will be paid 80% up front and the remainder on providing evidence of spend. All funded projects will be asked to agree to complete a standard Monitoring Form.

Applications must be submitted to the Community Foundation on or before 4.00pm 29 Feb 2008.
