An EU budget of €200 million has been committed for 2007-2013, with British and Irish government contributions adding another €70 million. Read NICVA's position paper on Peace III.

EU flagIt is likely that the detail of a finalised Peace III programme will still have to be worked out and submitted to the European Commission in Brussels by the end of the summer 2006. The British and Irish government also have decisions to make before this can happen, so consultation will be taking place in the coming months on what the programme should look like.

An EU budget of €200 million has been committed for 2007-2013. On top of that the two governments will contribute their 25% which adds around another €70 million over the seven year period.

The north/south split has not yet been worked out, but the amount of money coming to Northern Ireland is likely to be less than the amount of the current Peace II extension.

NICVA SEMINARS
NICVA is organising four seminars in conjunction with North West Community Network, Lisburn Community Network and Sperrin Lakelands Victims Programme to find out what it is the voluntary and community sector wants and expects from Peace III.

  1. Tuesday 7 March 2006 - Beechlawn Hotel, Dunmurry. 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  2. Wednesday 8 March 2006 - NICVA, Belfast. 10.00am to 12.30pm
  3. Tuesday 14 March 2006 - The Junction, Derry. 10.00am to 12.30pm
  4. Monday 3 April 2006 - The Mellon Country Inn, Omagh. 10.00am to 12.30pm

CROSS BORDER ELEMENT
Under the new Peace programme, not every project will have to be cross border but it is likely that every project will have to contribute to measure level objectives which are cross border. This probably means there will be no single cross border measure as with the last programme and may have implications for the funding bodies which distribute the money as they may not be able to distribute funds which impact on just one locality.
