Volunteers

Individual formal volunteers give an average of 13.4 hours each month. The annual economic contribution of regular formal volunteers, (based on an average hourly wage of £11.49 Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings) is £504 million.

Wendy Osborne OBE, Director of the Volunteer Development Agency said “Volunteers’ Week is an important date in the calendar for voluntary and community organisations. During the week organisations are encouraged to recognise and reward the efforts of their volunteers and say ‘thank-you’ for sharing their time. Volunteer badges and certificates are available to order through our website to present to your volunteers. At a time when 59% of organisations think volunteers are becoming more difficult to recruit Volunteers’ Week also provides the opportunity to draw attention to the recruitment of new volunteers.”

Visit www.volunteering-ni.org to download other free resources. Organisations are encouraged to place their orders for volunteer badges and certificates early to ensure receipt for Volunteers’ Week.
