Extern is one of the largest charities in Northern Ireland and employs just over 200 staff. Children and Family Services are at the forefront of delivering services to clients at risk of educational and social exclusion. The Pathways Project provides an alternative, balanced and broad based education and training programme for young people aged 15-16 years. The Project Manager will be expected to maintain the structure and quality of service and lead the core staff team in the implementation of the programme. Duties will include identifying and securing funding streams and representing the Project at a strategic level.

We wish to appoint the following: Project Manager: Maternity Cover- 10 months Fixed term (PW299/08/08)
Permanent, Full-Time/37.5 per week
Salary: £26,386 rising to £31,688 per annum
Location: North Belfast

Essential Criteria:

  • Professional Qualification in Social Work, Youth & Community Work or relevant Degree/Diploma/NVQ Level 4 in a relevant discipline e.g. Youth Work, Child Care, Community Work or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in one of the disciplines outlined above which must include 3 years’ relevant management experience (e.g. fund-raising, managing staff/volunteers, managing resources etc).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of direct work with young people aged 10-17 years of age in a structured environment e.g. residential setting, youth project, social work/care, etc.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car with motor insurance that stipulates you can use your vehicle in connection with your business. (Please note this criteria will be waived in the case of an applicant whose disability prohibits driving but who is able to demonstrate their ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post).

A waiting list will be held in the event that any similar permanent or fixed-term/temporary vacancies arise within the next 9 months.
