English and French Teachers in Morocco

CommunityNI.org Small Logo

Volunteer in Morocco–a country full of contrasts, colour and mystery, of jostling crowds, endless sand dunes and stunning nature. Plunged into a culture, a religion and a lifestyle that is very different to that of Northern Europe, volunteers have the unique opportunity to work and live side-by-side with Moroccans, experiencing the culture from the inside while sharing their enthusiasm, time and skills with people they might otherwise not meet.

We are looking for volunteers to teach English or French in Morocco during the month of July. Every year ICYE-UK sends a group of volunteers to different cities and villages in Morocco to teach groups of children or young adults either English or French. The courses give people who otherwise cannot afford to take private classes an exposure to the languages. At the same time it offers volunteers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Moroccan culture by living in a local host family and sharing their time with the family members and the students.

Previous teaching experience is not a requirement to take part but volunteers need to be independent, flexible and able to work without direct supervision or support. Volunteers do not need to be native speakers of their chosen language but must be fluent enough to pass on correct pronunciation and grammar rules! All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

ICYE-UK is a unique user-led charity (no. 1081907) working in the field of personal, social and community development. ICYE-Uk is part of a world-wide network of independent organisations established in 1949 and with national offices in over 30 different countries. All the placements are vetted and supported by our long-established local partners abroad. We do not receive public funding to finance our work and volunteers are required to fundraise for their trip. The cost of the Morocco programme is £750 which includes pre-departure taining, flights, on-arrival support, board and lodging in Morocco, the organisation of local trips in Morocco and administration both in the UK and in Morocco.
