Job title: Network Coordinator
Salary: £26,200 per annum
Contract Period: 2 Years fixed term contract (subject to funding) There is no pension with this post at this stage.
Summary of main responsibilities:
To oversee the day to day running of the centre and the strategic development of the services to its members and other local groups.
Main Duties
- Develop an action plan for the network in partnership with key stakeholders, Network Management committee and other staff.
- To disseminate information relevant to the needs of the sector.
- To work with other community, voluntary and statutory agencies within the district of Omagh and throughout Northern Ireland and beyond to benefit the sector.
- To organise seminars and conferences as required.
- To provide appropriate networking opportunities and promote best practice for the sector.
- To provide information to local communities, groups and project promoters on other funding opportunities and support services available.
- Staff management including recruitment and selection, supervision and support, delegation of duties and regular appraisals.
- To identify sources of funding and help make applications for funding for the Network.
- To identify further opportunities for the sector.
- To work with the rest of the team members in the development, implementation and management of programmes.
- To undertake an effective monitoring and evaluation framework.
- To report regularly to the Management Board of the project.
- To supervise and support office staff and volunteers including ensuring clarity and agreement and concerning allocations of work, holidays time off etc.
- To prepare press releases and other publicity materials as required.
- To represent the organisation at seminars, meetings and conferences.
- Any other relevant duties within the responsibilities and capabilities of the post holder.
Area of work:
You are expected to work throughout the District and on occasions travel outside.
Hours of work:
The normal working week is 37.5 hours. Generally speaking, Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4pm. Although starting and finishing times are flexible between 8.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 5.30pm. However on occasions you may be required to work outside these hours for which time in lieu on an hour for hour basis will be awarded.
Expenses:
A mileage allowance will be payable. The appointee will be responsible for keeping accurate travel records, available for inspection by FOCUS management committee and or other appropriate bodies.
Holiday entitlement:
Annual entitlement is 25 days rising to 30 after 5 years service. Additionally there is the entitlement to 12 public and bank holidays.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- A 3rd level qualification OR at least 2 years experience of paid employment gained within the last 5 years, working in the area of local community development.
- Effective communication skills - both oral and written. Must demonstrate ability to work on a range of levels i.e. with local groups, with statutory agencies, other funders and other support networks.
- Experience of staff management.
- Project management experience including programme planning, budgeting and funding.
- Computer literacy, familiar with email, internet and the Microsoft Office Package.
- Self-motivated, ability to set targets and work on his/her own initiative.
- For short-listing purposes the desirable criteria will be based on one year out of the last five years but this may be increased.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of delivering training.
- Awareness of issues facing local community groups particularly in areas of social need.
- Experience of paid employment in a local community with project management experience.
- Familiarity with the various public sector agencies, local authorities, community and voluntary agencies.
- Experience in the preparation of reports, press releases, and promotional material.
- At least one year’s experience of attracting grant aid from a range of funding sources.
- Experience of managing finances for a project including budgeting.
The appointee will be subject to:
(a) Satisfactory references from two referees; it is preferable that one should be able to testify the applicant previous work in community development.
(b) The appointee will be required to satisfactorily complete a three months probationary period. This may be extended.
It is a requirement to have access to a form of transport that will allow the person to carry out the job in full.
