Chief Executive Officer

Responsible to: The Chair and Board of Directors

Summary of main responsibilities

1. To build relationships and monitor developments in the external environment which impact on the work on NLC, especially those with funders, partners organisations and stakeholders.
2. In association with the Chair, to enable the Board of Directors of NLC to fulfil its functions and to ensure the Board receives appropriate advice and information on all relevant matters.
3. To provide strategic leadership to NLC and to assist the Board in the achievement and formulation of the organisation's mission, vision, values, strategic and operational objectives and to ensure that services provided meet the needs of service users, funders and other stakeholders.
4. To take the lead role in the management and administration of the organisation including management of NLC's work programme, marketing strategy, human and financial resources.

Essential Criteria:

• degree educated
• minimum 3 years management experience at a senior level
• demonstrate leadership skills
• knowledge and experience of strategic planning
• experience of preparing policy and briefing papers
• good presentation skills and public speaking
• supervisory management experience
• budgetary control and financial administration skills
• experience of partnership working
• knowledge of the relevant stakeholder environment.
