This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with drive and enthusiasm to lead a strategic investment that will have transformational impact on the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.

The Building Change Trust is an independent charitable trust to be established by the Big Lottery Fund with a National Lottery grant of £10 million to help develop and promote the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. The Trust will be operational for 10 years and will be governed by a corporate trustee.

On behalf of the ‘preferred bidder’ partnership the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland is seeking applications for the position of Chairperson of the Building Change Trust, corporate trustee, for an initial three year term.

A commitment of 2-3 days per month will be required and while the position is voluntary reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership skills, knowledge and experience of the voluntary and community sector, capability in respect of the management of substantial public funds, and a commitment to social change.

Selection will be made by the Board of Directors of the Corporate Trustee and it is hoped that the chairperson will take up their position in October 2008.
