In 2006 Disability Action secured funding from Atlantic Philanthropies to enable it to establish a Centre on Human Rights for People with Disabilities. The Centre aims to foster a culture of Human Rights for disabled people throughout Northern Ireland through education and capacity building within the sector and the judicious use of lobbying, influencing and legal challenge.

Disability Action now wishes to appoint to the following positions: -Training Officer (Ref TOHRC/08)

The Training Officer will develop and deliver a range of training programmes concerning all aspects of equality and human rights. This post is designed primarily to assist the empowerment of disabled people and additionally to support and inform a range of individuals, employers, the public sector and service providers. Candidates must have the following:-

• Demonstrable experience in the design and delivery of training programmes to a wide range and level of audiences in at least 2 of the following subject areas – Equality; Diversity; Discrimination, Harassment, Victimisation and Abuse; Human Rights; Capacity Building
• Experience of evaluating and researching the effectiveness and impact of training.
• Good interpersonal, presentational and communication skills.
• Good computer skills and the ability to use computerised presentation packages.

This post is fixed term to September 2009 with the potential for extension to 2012.
