What's communityni.org for?
Communityni.org is a 'web portal' and as such it aims to be a gateway to who’s who and what’s what in the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland.
It is a vehicle for promoting the work of the sector. There will be news, views, events, funding information and a wealth of other resources all gathered on one easily accessible site.
You can also add your own organisation’s events, campaigns and publicity to the site.
Communityni.org is for anyone involved or with an interest in voluntary and community organisations.
To find out how you can become involved, contact Brendan Kane, email: brendan.kane@nicva.org.
How to use this site
The main way of finding your way round the site is to use the navigation menu on the left of the page. This menu contains the sort of information that most visitors to the site will be looking for such as News, Events, Jobs, Training, Resources, Campaigns and a unique feature, eMentor - an area for help, advice and sharing ideas on everyday organisational issues.
To make the site easily accessible there are a number of ways to search for content, depending on the type of information you need:
Search
![]()
The search box is a straightforward keyword search. Just type in a word eg children and a list of articles containing that word will be displayed.
Find an organisation

The ideal search if you want to find out about a particular organisation or about groups that work in a particular field. Use this to find summary information about a voluntary or community group and find links to its website and any articles it has posted on Community NI.
To find a children’s organisation, simply type Children into the Find an Organisation box. The search will find organisations that work with children or that have that word in their group name.
Search by theme

Site content is also organised into themes to help you quickly find information on a particular topic. So, to search for Children click on People in the themes list and select Children from the sub-menu.
Regions
It’s also possible to see content for particular areas. Click the Browse by Region button, select the area you are interested in and a selection of news, events and jobs is displayed.
