Measure 1.3 New Skills and Opportunities


PROTEUS is inviting applications from organisations interested in developing and delivering projects which will increase people's employability.

Actions supported

  1. To promote transition to the knowledge-based economy, particularly in key areas such as information and communications technology, software engineering and multimedia applications.
  2. Respond to other skill demands stimulated by peace.
  3. Improve better linkages between SME's and other providers of third-level education and training.
  4. Provision of skill enhancement and training, which promotes access to employment and career development.
  5. Encouragement of employment practices which allow the achievement of a balance between work and life outside of work.
  6. Innovative vocational training activities at various levels to assist disadvantaged groups.
  7. Education and training initiatives for both young and older people from economic and social black spots and marginalised communities.
  8. Support for confidence-building actions and basic skills development.
  9. Actions to improve the level of basic skills across the working population, particularly those who have been affected by the conflict and those whose existing employment is threatened.

Applications and advice

Applications must be submitted by 5.00 pm on Wednesday, 21 September 2005.

Proteus encourage applicants to submit Part B of the form as early as possible and not to wait until the closing date for submissions.

Staff will be available for advice from Monday 1 August 2005.

PROTEUS welcomes applications from all sections of the community, and in particular, from groups which have not previously applied and those which have been underrepresented in the programme to date.
