NICVA delivers a number of training and information events throughout the year. This is a comprehensive list of the events planned for the coming year.

The NICVA Member Service fundraising advice team has planned the following series of training and information events in pursuit of our aim to to make the sector more sustainable by providing fundraising information, advice, capacity building and advocacy. It may also be the case that more events will be added to this calendar as resources permit.

NICVA Training Calendar

As part of the NICVA Training Calendar, NICVA will provide fundraising training on the following dates:

  • 06 May 2008 - Practical Strategy for Fundraising - 10am to 1pm: A short course whichaims to help organisations put in place their own practical fundraising strategy. Especially designed for organisations who struggle from week to week, month to month and year to year with fundraising - this course seeks to provide an opportunity for setting action points, realistic targets and key milestones. This course will work through a simplified model plan to enable participants to learn how to fundraise using diverse methods and techniques in practical steps
  • 04 November 2008 - Tax Effective Fundraising - 10am to 1pm: A short course on tax effective methods of fundraising and how to make best use of them to maximise income.
  • 20 January 2009 - Making a Better Awards for All Application - 10am to 1pm: A short course which aims to improve chances of success for applicants to the National Lottery Awards for All Grants Programme.

IOF/NICVA Lunchtime Bites '08

In Association with the Institute of Fundraising (NI), NICVA facilitates the IOF Lunchtime Bites Series of seminars and participates in the development of the Annual IOF Training Convention in June eash year. Details of the events part of the Lunchtime Bites '08 are listed below.

IOF Lunchtime Bites Course cost £5 for IOF or NICVA Members and £7.50 for all others. A sandwich lunch is provided. Contact Georgie Finlay at NICVA for booking information. 028 9087 7777, georgie.finlay@nicva.org.

Funding Advice Network Calendar 2008

  • 12 February 2008, 2.30 pm, Special EU Programmes Body, Seamus McAdams from the SEUPB will give the network an overview of The Northern Periphery, Atlantic Area & North West Europe Programmes.
  • 6 March 2008, 2.30pm – Community Foundation for NI - Sharon Killen, a grants officer will present an overview of these schemes particularly focusing on The Turkington, Difference makers and Community Arts programmes.
  • 8 April 2008: Heritage Lottery Fund, Jamie Curran from the HLF will be facilitating a presentation on the new round of schemes to be launched in late spring of 2008.
  • 13 May 2008: Ulster Garden Villages Ltd (to be confirmed), Mrs Marti Boyd the Executive director will inform the network on the Society.
  • 11 June 2008: Lloyds TSB and The Enkalon Foundation, Sinead Tierney who is grants manager in Northern Ireland will brief the network on the Foundation. John Wallace will brief the network on criteria and the grants process
