The main objective of the Tourism Development Scheme, which is administered by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, is to assist the improvement of the tourist amenities which Northern Ireland can offer and thereby strengthen the competitive position of the tourism industry and improve its contribution to the Northern Ireland economy
TDS presents a unique opportunity for local businesses to improve their tourism offering and provide a quality visitor experience. The scheme is open to organisations which can demonstrate that they will increase tourism activity to and within Northern Ireland.
Following the success of the 2006-2008 scheme, NITB is urging eligible organisations to take advantage of this new wave of funding. Siobhan McCauley, Director of Product Development at NITB said;
The funding scheme is open to a wide range of organisations across Northern Ireland including private sector companies, public sector bodies and voluntary organisations. Community groups and not-for-profi t bodies, including companies limited by guarantee. Financial assistance up to 50% of eligible project costs.
The TDS application process comprises two stages and all applications are assessed together as a competitive process within a limited grant budget.

The deadline for applications is 28th March 2008
