Investing in Volunteers Bursaries

Community Foundation for Northern Ireland Small Logo

Northern Bank and the Community Foundation for NI have provided funding to support development of a small Investing in Volunteers Bursary Scheme in order to widen accessibility of the award.

Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for all organisations that involve volunteers in their work. It is designed to help volunteer-involving organisations review and improve their volunteer management. It is a nationally recognised award that allows organisations to publicly demonstrate and promote their commitment to volunteering.

The Volunteer Development Agency, the lead organisation for the promotion and development of volunteering in Northern Ireland, has responsibility for the management and rollout of Investing in Volunteers across the Province. There is a clear process to go through in order to achieve the award and a cost structure has been developed based on size of organisation, number of sites to be assessed or support required.

This Bursary Scheme will provide some full bursaries and some part bursaries towards the total package cost, depending on an organisation’s situation and assessment against criteria agreed by the Funders.

A Bursary Application Pack can be downloaded from www.volunteering-ni.org or contact Richard on 02890236100.

Applications must be completed fully and received by 27th January 2006.

Please send completed applications to:

Debbie Thompson, Training Accreditation Officer, Volunteer Development Agency, 4th Floor, 58 Howard Street, Belfast. BT1 6PGo r by emailing debbie@volunteering-ni.org.

Further information about the standard is available on the Investing in Volunteers website www.investinginvolunteers.org.uk
