North South Arts Funding Opportunity

Arts Council Of Northern Ireland Small Logo

Turas is a joint funding initiative being piloted by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

It concerns the traditional arts (music, song, dance and oral arts such as storytelling and agallamh beirte) and the language arts (Irish and Ulster-Scots) where they naturally intersect.

Turas is intended to recognise the value of traditional arts, intersecting in various instances with language arts, around the island of Ireland and support an existing, yet underdeveloped, integration of participants at all levels of engagement. Turas will offer support for projects that involve collaboration, exchange, partnership or network between artists/groups/organisations in Northern Ireland and their counterparts in the south.

Turas is open to projects involving:

  • the traditional arts of music, song, dance and oral arts
  • the language arts where they naturally intersect with the traditional arts (e.g. song and oral arts such as storytelling)
  • the traditional/language arts in collaboration with other art forms

Closing Date: 4pm , Thursday 28th June, 2007
