Children in need - Positive Destinations

Positive Destinations is a new grant programme from BBC Children in Need & The Hunter Foundation which seeks to fund projects aimed at achieving positive future outcomes for children and young people.

Positive Destinations is an exceptional grants programme, additional to BBC Children in Need's normal grants programme, for organisations working with the most vulnerable children and young people from early years up to and including age 18. Funding will be available for projects working to ensure that children and young people achieve a positive and sustained future in terms of education, employment or training.

Positive Destinations invites applications from projects that can demonstrate improved outcomes for participants and a wider impact on the numbers of children and young people falling out of education, training and employment. We recognise that interventions can be effective at a range of points in the lives of children and young people and expect to fund projects working with children and young people of any age up to and including 18, ranging from pre-school to primary, secondary and further education.

Positive Destinations is a £2-million grant programme working with projects taking place over three years. It is a UK-wide programme which aims to make three larger grants and three smaller grants. As an integral part of this programme projects will be expected to generate learning and ensure sustainability of their work beyond the life of the programme.

BBC Children in Need and The Hunter Foundation believe that we can work jointly to support long term sustainable change in the lives of those children and young people most at risk by tackling the causes, as well as the effects, of disadvantage. This involves working together to identify key areas of unmet need and to target resources to stimulate learning and positive change.

This programme highlights the common ground between The Hunter Foundation and BBC Children in Need, particularly in relation to identifying new strategies to ensure that children and young people achieve a positive and sustained future in terms of education, employment or training.
