Notice regarding the temporary closure of the Athlete Support Programme
The Sports Council for Northern Ireland launched its Athlete Support Programme in December 2003, and since that time 288 sports awards have been made in support of 212 individual and 76 squad plans totaling £2,313,191.
It has been made evident in recent months that a review of the current programme is necessary, due to the changing strategic environment, the need for a new approach to improving performance standards in sport and the high demand on limited Sports Council resources.
To facilitate this review, it is necessary to close the Programme on a temporary basis.
The final date for receipt of applications to the Programme is Friday 30 March 2007.
Applications may be submitted at any time up to and including Friday 30 March 2007. Applications received during this period of time will be assessed on a “first come, first served” basis.
It is anticipated that details of the revised funding Programme will be available in September 2007.
