Combatting Trafficking in Women

NICVA Small Logo

The aim of this call for proposals is to support the operating costs of organisations which submit a work programme to develop activities in the field of gender equality between women and men, including activities concerning “Trafficking in women”.

The call is intended to complement the range of instruments currently available in the EU to promote gender equality, including those that prevent and combat trafficking in women, in particular, by reinforcing the capacity of NGO's or equivalent organisations working in the field of trafficking in women to create/strength networking and to facilitate transnational exchange, transfer of information, experience and good practice.

The fight against trafficking in human beings has become increasingly a political priority
at the level of the EU. A comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach is necessary to tackle this issue. Therefore, a variety of measures, including legal protection to all individuals, and preventive measures, as well as measures to ensure adequate protection of, support for, and assistance to the victims, are required.

The Commission intends to focus the Community support towards operating costs around the following objectives:

  • Capacity building through cooperation, networking and training.
  • Awareness rising through studies, campaigns and/or conferences/seminars.
  • Dissemination of information, best practises and new knowledge.

The results will have to be widely disseminated by the beneficiaries of the grant. Priority for funding will be given to proposals addressing the theme: "Trafficking in women"

The Commission proposes to co-fund one operating grant up to a maximum of €350,000.

The proposals must be sent to the Commission not later than 15 February 2006
