Belfast City Council have launched a call for the Neighbourhood Economic Development Programme (NEDP). The aim of the NEDP is to promote and support economic development activity in local communities.

Belfast City Council are committed to driving economic regeneration in Belfast which is why we have created a grants package for community-based development projects.

The Neighbourhood Economic Development Programme will help community organisations improve the economic conditions in areas of need.

The specific objectives of the Neighbourhood Economic Development Programme are:

  • To stimulate small to medium sized enterprises (SME) growth and competitiveness.
  • To promote and enhance development in SMEs.
  • To encourage economic growth through the development of business incubation facilities at a community level.
  • To promote entrepreneurship in Belfast and stimulate new and better quality business start-ups.

Local development agencies, firms and community groups, who are keen to promote entrepreneurship, stimulate better quality business start-ups and promote economic development at a local level, can apply for funding.

All projects must address at least one of two themes:

  • Business competitiveness, and
  • Community economic regeneration

Funding assistance is available to enable groups and organisations to deliver small scale localised community regeneration projects.

£200,000 is available through the programme, in the form of grants of between £5,000 and £20,000.
