The WEA Mission Statement
The following mission statement guides the work of the WEA.
“We will make learning accessible to all men and women, especially those most removed from the educational experience. As well as offering opportunities to individuals we will assist those who wish to work collectively for the benefit of their communities and for the good of society as a whole.”
The Value Base of the WEA
The WEA has been a catalyst for social change since it began in Belfast in 1910.
The following values underpin our commitment to social change:
Social Inclusion – we make special efforts to reach those most removed from the learning experience
Voluntarism – we provide opportunities for people to volunteer to work both individually and collectively for the betterment of our society
